Rita B. Dvorsky, 95 of Iowa City died peacefully Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Solon Care Center .
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Wednesday, March 2nd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. John Spiegel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, where the Catholic Daughters and the Foresters will recite the rosary at 4pm, and after 9am Wednesday at the Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Regina Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Rita was born October 28, 1915 in Newport Township, the daughter of Louis J. and Rose Bumba Sedlacek. She was a 1934 graduate of Iowa City High School, where she received her teaching certificate. Rita taught in rural Johnson County Schools from 1935-38. On August 16, 1938 Rita married Adolph Dvorsky at St. Wenceslaus Church.
Adolph and Rita farmed near Solon for many years, where she liked to garden, can, cook and sew. In 1969 they moved into Iowa City. Rita enjoyed her work at Cathy’s Candle Cupboard and collecting family geneology. Special moments were the fishing trips with her grandchildren.
Rita was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, the National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.
Rita is survived by three children, Robert L. (LaRetta) Dvorsky of Solon, Joan (Ronald) Gringer of Hills and Karen Weseman of Marion; six grandsons, Randy (Tracy) Gringer, Eric Gringer, Brad (Michelle) Dvorsky, Brent (Deanna) Dvorsky, Brian (Annette) Weseman and Chad Weseman; seven great grandchildren, Jordan, Jared, Brandon, Brenton, Brooklyn, Brittney and Tanner; numerous nieces and nephews.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister Mildred.
