Nicholas T. Murphy, 96, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Crestview Nursing & Rehab Center in West Branch.

Nicholas chose to be cremated. No services will be held. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is handling arrangements.

He was born June 4, 1914 in Iowa City. Nicholas married his best friend, Jean Stephens in 1941 in West Virginia. He was an industrial engineer for 30 years, retiring in 1965.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
