John J. Steigerwald, 91, of Iowa City, formerly of Roscommon, Michigan, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with a gathering of friends and family to follow at the home of a family member. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and his beloved son-in-law, Jim Cilek, of whom he was especially fond.

Survivors include his daughter, Angela Burdge of Columbus, Ohio, a daughter, Sally Cilek of Iowa City, a son, John Jr. of Clevland, Ohio, and a daughter, Peg Steigerwald of Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
