Death of a Pioneer

Mr. Michael Ryan of Cedar township died at his home at five o'clock this morning after a short illness.

He was 65 years of age and has been a resident of this county for thirty years having come to this country from Ireland in the year 1868 and lived for a short time in the state of New York. Like many of his countrymen the fertile fields of Iowa attracted his attention and joining the emigrants westward bound he came and settled on a farm in Cedar township where for thirty yers he has lived at peace with himself and the world.

A wife and four children survive him to mourn his loss. The two sons William H. and Daniel are residents of Cedar Township. Miss Anna is now Mrs. Maloney also of this county.

The funeral services will be held in St. Bridget's Church in the Nolan Settlement Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, the funeral cortege leaving the home an hour earlier.
