Ginnie was born February 4, 1935 in Iowa City, the daughter of Orlo and Gladys Marie (Smith) Edwards. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1952. On June 8, 1952, she married James R. Wenman at the Oxford Methodist Church. During her children’s youth she was involved in their lives as a scout leader, and loved her role as wife and stay at home mom.

To her family and friends, you knew the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed being outside and tending to her beloved garden. An avid Hawkeye fan, Ginni cheered on both the men and women’s teams in basketball, baseball, and football. As one of the charter members of the “Tuesday Nighters”, she and Jim enjoyed their fellowship with these friends on a regular basis.

Ginni was a member of the Coralville United Methodist Church, Coralville American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the Coralville Public Library. In recognition of her more than 25 years of service to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Volunteer Program, Ginni was presented with a 2002 Governor’s Award for Volunteerism from Governor Tom Vilsak.

Her family includes her husband of fifty-one years, Jim; son and his wife, Jim and Laura Wenman of Clive, Iowa; daughter and her husband, Ginger and Ed Troughton of Iowa City; grandchildren, Lennie and his wife, Lisa Troughton, John Troughton, Kathleen Troughton, Rachel, Katherine, and James Wenman.

Ginni was preceded in death by her parents.
