Marilyn McNulty, 81, of 1430 Ash Street in Iowa City, died unexpectedly Monday,September 6, 2010 at home in Iowa City.

Marilyn was born October 11, 1928 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Ruth (Carlson) Hurley. Growing up in Fort Dodge, Marilyn received her bachelor’s degree in Art Education from the University of Iowa in 1951. She taught in Des Moines and then devoted her time to raising her family. In recent years, Marilyn was a director for the Head Start Program.

Survivors include her children, Marta McNulty of Iowa City, Maria Tomes of Anamosa, Mona Vincent (Lucas Edd) of Beaumont, Texas, Mark McNulty, of Beaumont, Texas and Melissa Bland (Tim) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and one sister, Annice Frederick (Ray) of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
