Marilyn R. Rogers, 78, of 744 Spencer Drive in Iowa City, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Mercy Hospice Care in Iowa City from complications of leukemia.

Born in Fort Dodge, IA, the daughter of Joe and Carol Trost, both deceased, she graduated from public schools in Fort Dodge in 1050 and attended junior college there. She was employed by the FBI as a fingerprint technician in 1951 in Washington, D.C., and later became a reporter for the Des Moines Register and Tribune in Des Moines, IA.
Marilyn and Jack (John A.) Rogers were united in marriage in 1953, living in Ames, IA, where she worked in the publicity department of WIO-TV. Following her husband’s college graduation, they were stationed in Ft. Sill, OK, prior to being deployed to Hanau, Germany, where they spent the next one-and-a-half years, then returning to Fort Dodge where Jack was employed at the former Standard Engineering Company. In 1974, Marilyn and Jack and their family moved to Iowa City, IA. For nearly 20 years, Marilyn was a Realtor in Iowa City, last being employed by Coldwell Banker Realtors, retiring in 2001.
Marilyn and Jack have led an active life since, biking, gardening, and reading, enjoying family and traveling internationally for many years. She is a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, and has volunteered for many organizations during the course of her life, most recently the Crisis Center. She is survived by her husband, Jack, 3 sons, John (wife, Brenda) of Mound, MN, Curt (wife, Rhonda) of Denver CO, Scott (wife, Beth) of Dallas, TX, and 2 daughters, Liddy Hora (husband, Gregg) of Ft. Dodge, IA, and Sarah Dillon (husband, Tim) of Edina, MN, and 13 grandchildren.
