Mildred L. Millie Boarts, 90, formerly of 828 E. Fairchild Street in Iowa City, died Friday, August 6, 2010 at Mercy Iowa City's Hospice Unit.

The daughter of Robert and Nora Mae (Jacobs) Beard, Millie was born February 21, 1920 in a farm house half way between Iowa City and Lone Tree.

Millie was united in marriage to Leo J. Boarts May 28, 1936 at Zion Lutheran Church. She worked as a nurses aide at both Mercy Hospital and University of Iowa Hospitals for many years. She later worked at Hamburg Inn on N. Linn Street in Iowa City.

She is survived by her children,
Barbara Boyer (Russ) of Effingham, Illinois,
Mary Hall of Plymouth, Indiana,
Leo Boarts Jr. (Renee) of Chino, California and
Terry Boarts of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;
sister, Mary Beckelheimer of Florida;
grandchildren, Sam Boyer, Chris Boyer, Greg Boyer and Mat Boyer, Jeff Boarts, Robby Boarts, Dana Boarts, Jennifer Saunders, Chris Hall, Brian Hall, Carolyn and Susan Boarts;

great-grandchildren, Melissa, Mason, Rosali, Brett, Justin, Joe, Nate, Hannah, Lucas, Jeffrey, Jason, Jennifer, Jessica, Blake, and Spencer and one great- great- granddaughter, Maria in Warminster, Pennsylvania

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, two brothers and three grandchildren, Lisa, Robert and Roberta and one great-granddaughter, Ashley.
