Jeffrey Lynn Forbes age 42 of Iowa City died at his home on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 following a brief illness. A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to the Jeff Forbes memorial fund for the benefit of his daughter’s college education. Jeff was born on April 20, 1961 in Iowa City the son of Loren and Janet Simon Forbes. He attended Iowa City Schools and graduated from West High School in 1979. While at West he played Football, Baseball and was a member of the 4 X 100 relay track team which held the record time at the Drake Relays. He attended Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. On April 28, 1984 he married Lynn Ostedgaard, they were later divorced. He worked at Memory Gardens for fifteen years, then Iowa City Landscaping and was in charge of the grounds and facilities for the Izaak Walton League in Iowa City for the last fifteen years. His memberships included the Izaak Walton League where he was a past president, White Tails Unlimited, Hawkeye Area Water Fowlers and the Iowa Wildlife Federation. His family and friends will remember his love of the outdoors including fishing and hunting. Jeff was a fan of all University of Iowa Athletics the St. Louis Cardinals, St Louis Rams and NASCAR; his favorite driver was Ricky Rudd. He enjoyed puzzle’s and visiting with friends. Cooking and landscaping designs were some of his many talents; he will be missed by all that knew him.

Jeff’s family includes his daughters, Jillian and Trisha Forbes, his parents Loren and Janet Forbes all of Iowa City, a sister Julie Forbes of Chicago, IL., brothers Leslie and wife Cathy Forbes of Coralville, Scott and wife Mary Forbes and children Jacob and Stephaine of Eldrige, Iowa, Mark and wife Jeanne Forbes and daughter Jordan of St. Louis, his grandmother Irene Forbes of Lone Tree along with numoures aunts, uncles, cousins, a special friend Julie Noble of Iowa City and his cat Muzzy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Daris Forbes and Rudolph and Bertilla Simon. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Creation Service are caring for Jeff’s family and his services.
