Peggy was born August 23, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the last child born to the late Otis and Arie Florita Rebecca Harris.
She received her primary education in the Chicago Public School System. Her love of cooking led her to attend The School of Culinary Arts at the Art Institute of Chicago. Peggy later became a Paraprofessional for Interim Healthcare at the Department of Human Resources. This afforded her an opportunity to care for the sick and elderly as well as handicapped children. Peggy also modeled the designs of her late sister, Dr. Elizabeth Harris.
Peggy was united in holy matrimony to Jerry Dean Taylor on October 10, 1967.
She moved to Coralville, Iowa in May, 2007. Peggy battled her illness with the help of our Lord with such strength and courage she was nicknamed “The Energizer Bunny” by her caretakers, who said they never saw anyone fight so hard. She departed this life at Windmill Manor, Coralville, Iowa on May 25, 2010 at 2:17 p.m. Her siblings, Otis Jr. (Laura), Lester, Orville, Joan Hamilton (Henry), Jerry Sr. and Roger all preceded her in death.
Peggy leaves to cherish her loving memory: three sons, Marlo (Lisa), Jerry Jr. (Veronica) and Jonathan; two daughters, Peggy R. and Charlee; nine grandchildren, Shaun, Janea, Charnea, Devon, Jala, Jeffrey, Jalene, and Juaria (“Mother”). Jerry Taylor III is due any day now. She also leaves three sisters-in-law, Lena, Florence and Louise, sixteen nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank Iowa City Hospice, Windmill Manor, Jayne and Linda Hamilton, and everyone for all the kind expressions of sympathy extended during this time of bereavement.
