Phyllis Irene Mortensen (83) of Hemet, California (formerly a long-time resident of Coralville)went to be with her Lord on May 25, 2010.
She was born on March 10, 1927 to Retha (Henry) and Frank Petersen. She was married to Virgil
Mortensen on October 3, 1948. Together, they raised 5 children, Linda Auman of Omak, Washington, Julie (Fred) Coon of Hills, Iowa, ollie Oakes of North Liberty, Iowa, Mike (Teresa)Mortensen of Lakewood, California, and Gus (Dana) Mortensen of Murrieta, California. Phyllis and Virgil have 6 grandchildren.
Phyllis worked at the VA Hospital from 1965 to 1987 in the Dietetics Department. She was a recipe collector and was known for the good food she whipped up for family and her many good friends.
Phyllis always looked forward to camping. She also enjoyed swimming, working crossword puzzles, playing cards, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Graveside services will be June 9th, 2010 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
