Alice L. Pidgeon, 81, of Coralville, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory.

Alice Louise Turner was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Carbon, Iowa, the daughter of William Wesley Turner and Esther (Swedensky) Turner. As an infant, she moved with her parents to Columbus Junction, Iowa, where she attended and graduated from Columbus Junction High School. On Sept. 20, 1947, she married Junior F. Pidgeon in Columbus Junction. The couple moved to Iowa City in 1950, and later in 1962 settled to Coralville. Alice was active in P.T.A. and Cub Scouts while her children were growing up. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 721 in Coralville. She was employed by the Sears store in Iowa City for many years, retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed crafts, gardening, cooking, doing puzzles, her flowers and was an avid golfer while her health permitted. Alice was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, her family being the most important part of her life.
Her family includes her two sons, Gary Pidgeon of Tiffin, and Stevan Pidgeon and his wife, Jann of Coralville; three grandchildren, Ryan Pidgeon of Diamond Head, Miss., Sarah Pidgeon of Orlando, Fla., and Chelsea Del La Betta and her husband, Steven of Iowa City; sister, Rose Marie Carpenter of Muscatine; three brothers, John Turner of Wisconsin, Charles Turner of Colorado, and George Turner of Brighton; and faithful friend, beloved dog, Lulu.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant twin brothers and two sisters, Frances and Dolly.
