Mary Agnes Mulherin, 97, of Iowa City, died Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Born July 2, 1912 in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary (Devaney) Crock. Growing up in Tipton, Mary helped work on the family farm. Later moving to Iowa City, she married James M. Mulherin on July 2, 1931 in Rock Island. She was a homemaker and provided childcare in her home for many years.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar & Rosary Society.

Survivors include her children, Lola Beckwith of Minneapolis, Marilyn Rogers (Harold) of Iowa City, Roger Mulherin (Marcha) of Tampa, Florida, Linda Mulherin of Iowa City and Margi Strub (Greg) of Maryville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Michelle Miller (Eric), Matt Mulherin (Bridgit), Ryan Strub (Bridgit), Shawn Strub (Mary), James Beckwith, Philip Beckwith, Kelly Beckwith (Charlie), Dan Rogers (Roxanne) and Debra Brandt (John); 30 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, two brothers, a son in law Philip Beckwith and a great-granddaughter Moriah.
