Donna Vitosh, 65, of 1131 4th Avenue in Iowa City, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 1st, at 10:00 am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Reverend Rudolph Berndt officiating. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A parish wake service will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to the Donna J. Vitosh Memorial Fund.

Donna was born June 16, 1937, in Iowa City, the daughter of George & Helen Phillips Hora. She graduated from Iowa City High School in 1955. Donna worked for many years as head cashier at the A & P Grocery Store in Iowa City. She later worked at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics as a secretary in the kidney transplant unit.

She married James R. “Jim” Vitosh on August 22, 1961 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. Donna was a life long resident of Iowa City and a member of Iowa City Women of the Moose, Chapter 509. Donna enjoyed bluegrass music, roller skating and camping with her family but above all, she loved dancing with her husband.

Survivors include 1 brother, George Hora & his wife Sandra of Oxford; four sisters, Rosella “Rose” Skriver of Iowa City, Beverly Rickels & her husband John of Lost Nation, Iowa, Marilyn Lenz and her husband Ivan of Iowa City and Connie Railsback & her husband Ed of Iowa City; many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews, including a special great nephew, Anthony Skriver.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim in 1993 and two brothers, Donald Hora and Robert “Bob” Hora.
