Louis Kessler, 85

Services for Louis Kessler will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with burial in St. Peter's Cemetery in Cosgrove. The Rev. Robert Busher will officiate.

Louis "Lou" Francis Kessler, 856, of 701 Oaknoll, died Friday at Mercy Hospital of a heart attack.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Donohue-Lensing funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. by the National Society of Foresters and a parish vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Church or the Johnson County Chapter of the American Heart Association.

Mr. Kessler was born Nov. 10, 1906, in Hardin Township, son of Aloysius and Helena Ryan Kessler. He was a graduate of Cosgrove High School and was a livestock and grain farmer in the Cosgrove area until his retirement in 1965 when he moved to Iowa City. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Holy Name Society and the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include one sister, Genevieve Kessler of Iowa City; several nieces and nephews.

His parents, four sisters and three brothers died earlier.
