James “Jim” McInville, 82, of Iowa City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 following a sudden illness.
Jim was born in Rockingham, NC on June 6, 1927, the son of Robert and Mammie (Stewart) McInville. He was raised in Bennetsville, SC and resided there until joining The United States Army in 1945. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1947, Jim moved to Iowa City. On November 4, 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Louise Campbell in Coralville. For over 46 years, Jim worked for Brandt Heating & Cooling as an installer, retiring in 2006.
Jim was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa. He truly cherished the time he spent with all of his family. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching wildlife in his yard.
Survivors include his wife Louise of Iowa City and their four children: Dean (Theresa) McInville and their daughter Anna all of West Des Moines, Dianne Rash and her children Megan and Michael Rash all of Iowa City, Elaine (Neal) Davis and their daughter Paige all of North Liberty, IA, and Todd McInville of Iowa City; two brothers: Mason of Bennettsville, SC and Gerald (Joyce) of Ft. Dodge, IA.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Norman, two sisters Maebell and Bobbi and a son-in-law Tony Rash.
