Arlo “ Wayne” Fry Jr. 63 of Washington died at UIHC Friday, April 02, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
A Memorial Services with military honors will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City with Rev. John McKinstry officiating. The family will greet friends after 10 am, Tuesday. A luncheon will follow in the Kirkwood Room. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Wayne was born August 3, 1946 in Ft. Myers, FL, the son of Arlo and Kathleen (Schillig) Fry Sr. He was a graduate of City High School, Iowa City. Wayne served proudly with the US Army in the Vietnam War, and was a medic in Desert Storm and with the Iowa National Guard. On May 3, 1972 married Vicki Ruegsegger in Quincy, IL.
Wayne, Vicki and family had lived in Iowa County for many years, moving to Washington in 2004.He liked to fish and listen to music, especially Buddy Holly.
Wayne is survived by his wife Vicki and their two daughters, Charlotte and Nicole Fry, all of Washington; three siblings, Allen Fry of North Liberty, Marjorie (Caz)Kotowski of Thornton, CO and Arlene Johnston of Iowa City; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
