CHARLES PINNEY, SR., DEAD
The Old Gentleman Passed Away Peacefully,
Surrounded by His Family.

“Grandpa” Charles Pinney died at 3:30 o’clock this afternoon, at the residence of his son, in this city. The old gentleman had been in his second childhood for three or four years, and began sinking rapidly three or four days ago. His wife, son, daughter and five or six grandchildren were at his bedside when he passed away peacefully and as if going to sleep. He was born in 1812, and was therefore 80 years old.

Deceased was a native of Ohio, but moved to Iowa at an early age, and the greater part of his life was spent there. About eight years ago he came to Hailey, most of his children being established here, and has lived here ever since. Several children issued of the marriage, three of whom served during the war, and died in the volunteer service of the United States. He leaves to mourn his death a widow and four children, namely, Hon. J. A. Pinney, of this city, at whose residence he died; Mrs. Ila Burkett, relate of Jos. A. Burkett, who died of la grippe two years ago while Cashier of the First National Bank of this city; and Mrs. H. Z. Burkhart, wife of the Speaker of the last Territorial Legislature of Idaho, who is visiting in Fairhaven, Wash. or Portland, Oregon.

The funeral arrangements will not be completed until Monday, in order to give James A. Pinney time to come over from Boise.

His widow will visit in the East until next summer.
