Dorothy Lucille Stevens, 91 of Iowa City died Friday, January 29, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Karl Divine-Koch officiating. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Dorothy's memory to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or Mercy Hospital Foundation. Dorothy Lucille Prybil was born November 28, 1918, in Iowa City, the daughter of William and Ella (Slezak) Prybil. She was a graduate of University High School. On May 19, 1937, she married Robert W. Stevens Sr. in Iowa City. The couple and their family were dairy farmers, supplying milk to many including the University of Iowa.

She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. In her younger years she was active in Girl Scouts as a leader, a member of 4-H, and Johnson County Farm Bureau. She and Bob enjoyed going to dances in the area, playing cards, and living the good life on the farm with family and friends. In retirement they enjoyed spending winters in Texas and in recent years Dorothy enjoyed several holidays spent in Florida. Bob died in May of 2004; she continued to stay on the farm until recently when she moved to Bickford Cottage, where they cared for her dearly.

Her family includes her children, Shirley A. Connor (Bob) of Des Moines; Judith L. Gabriel (Ron) of Palm City, FL; Robert W. Stevens Jr. (Cindi) of Iowa City; and James E. Stevens of Iowa City; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob; 2 brothers, William and Carl Prybil; and two sisters, Mildred Stevens and Ruth Frank.
