Ellen B. Donelson died January 27 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Home in Manhattan, KS. Ellen was born and raised near Prairie City, IA. She attended Central College in Pella, IA and the University of Iowa. Ellen was a long time resident and elementary school teacher in Iowa City. She also taught school in Ogden and Vinton during her long career of service to young people. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, and was active in the community. She is survived by her husband Ken Donelson of Manhattan, KS, daughters Debbie Jones of Gainesville, FL and Patsy Brandt of Manhattan, KS, twin sister Edna Van Zee of Newton, IA, and five grandchildren. A memorial gathering and inurnment is being planned for a later date in Iowa City to celebrate Ellen’s life. Memorials may be directed to the music and youth departments of First Presbyterian Church, Iowa City, or to the University of Iowa Foundation.
