Alice Ward Scott, 79, of Iowa City died peacefully at her home Tuesday, January 5, 2010 of pancreatic cancer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. Mark’s Methodist Church, Iowa City, with Rev. Denny Coon officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Alice was born February 4, 1930 in Iowa City, the daughter of Elmer and Bonnie Kelsey Roeder. She was a 1948 graduate of City High School. Alice married Charles Ward in May, 1948, and they divorced in 1961. On November 30, 1963 she married Norman Scott.
Alice was employed at UIHC for 25 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Coralville United Methodist Church and the Jessamine Chapter #135 of Eastern Star. As a young girl she was a member of the Rainbow Girls.
Survivors include four children; Marsha Ward (Mike) Brunsvold of Mason City, Susan Ward Brenneman of Iowa City, Steve (Kym) Ward of West Liberty, and Leon Scott of Iowa City; two step-sons, Thomas and Noel; her sister, Ellen (Robert) Krouth of Moline; nine grandchildren: Chad (Amy) Brunsvold, Chris (Carrie) Brunsvold, Tami (Ed) Saidat, Corey (Adrienne) Brunsvold, Lisa Brenneman, Lindsi Brenneman, Nathan (Jess) Brenneman, Jesse Lasswell and Alesha Frana; and her nine great grandchildren: Carl, Molly, Eddie, Carmen, Justus, Eden, Vincent, Victor and Simone
