Mary Jo Small, 72, of Iowa City died Friday, December 25, 2009 at UIHC of complications from a stroke.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am, Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at St. Thomas More Church, Coralville with the Rev. David Hitch officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mary Jo Small Fellowship Award c/o The University of Iowa Foundation, 1 W. Park Rd, Iowa City, IA 52242. Mary Jo was born February 5, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Robert and Johanna Rigney O’Callaghan. She was united in marriage to Arthur Adams Small Jr. on November 23, 1960 in Cincinnati.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Arthur of Iowa City and their three children and four grandchildren; Peter Adams Small of Iowa City, Martha Kennedy Small and Stefan Bader of Ft. Collins, CO and their children, Victor Robert, Clara Johanna and Anne Alice, and Arthur Adams Small III and his wife, Dawn, and their daughter Zoe Marie; three brothers, Robert (Judy) O’Callaghan of Bloomington, IN, Michael (Marie) O’Callaghan of Mooresville, NC and Patrick (Karen) O’Callaghan of Cincinnati, OH; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
