Martha “Jane” Jones, 88, of 2905 Meadow Circle NE in Iowa City, died peacefully Tuesday, December 28, 2004 in her home surrounded by her family.

Jane was born February 1, 1916 in Des Moines County, the daughter of J. Edward and Susie B.(Paisley) Wright. She graduated from Morning Sun High School. Jane married Lyle Jones on April 7, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois.

Jane and her husband farmed in Henry County until moving to Iowa City in 1948. They then owned & operated their own business, the Jones-Thomas Insurance Agency. Jane was a member of First United Methodist Church in Iowa City and the United Methodist Women.

Jane is survived by her husband, three daughters LaBonte Stutzman (Bill) of Surprise, Arizona; Barbara Knorzer (Tim) of Carson City, Nevada and Lou Hogan Kessler (Jim) of Coralville; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Frances Thomas, one brother Gay Wright and one grandson, Kenneth Stutzman.
