Audrey L. Robertson (Cecil), 89, of Solon, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Solon Nursing Care Center after a brief illness.

Audrey was born June 6, 1916 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Clyde and Minnie Wolford. Audrey spent part of her childhood in St. Louis and the family later moved to Conesville, Iowa. She married Jack (Dorsey) Cecil on March 7, 1934 in Canton, Missouri. Their son Gary was born on March 16, 1935.

In 1940 the family made their home in Columbus Junction, Iowa where they lived until Jack’s death in 1976. Audrey was a homemaker and she thoroughly enjoyed her family, cooking, music, singing and painting.

Audrey married William Robertson in 1982 in Muscatine, Iowa and they later relocated to Solon. William preceded her in death in 2003.

Audrey is survived by her only child Gary L. Cecil (Dee) of Mt. Vernon. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Gary Cecil Jr. (Pam) of Keokuk, Vicki Shover (Kurt) of Solon, Holly Johnson (Rick) of Mt. Vernon and Leanne Royer (John) also of Mt. Vernon; eight great-grandchildren, Mandy Warson of Lone Tree, Dusty Miller of Solon, Trevor Miller of Solon, Cole Cecil, Jamie Cecil and Chase Cecil, all of Keokuk, Lainey Johnson of Mt. Vernon and Chanse Shover of Solon; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Audrey’s family wishes to thank the Solon Nursing Care Center for providing such loving comfort and care to her during her life. Audrey was an exceptional, caring Mother, a warm, nurturing grandmother and she will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her.
