Curtis G. Braem, 61, 1690 Eight PointTrail, North Liberty, died Thursday, November 3, 2005 at University Hospitals following a long illness.

Curt was born May 30, 1944 in Dubuque, the son of Elvin and Agnes Favre Braem He had attended Loras College and Kirkwood College. Curt married Mary Lea McCarthy on September 1, 1972 in Dubuque.

Curt was employed by Dubuque Packing Co until 1987 when he received a cardiac transplant. He and his family moved to the Iowa City area in 1988, where he had been employed at Rob’s Meat Market and McGurk-Meyers Motors, where he drove the courtesy van.

Curt was a very outgoing, easy going sort of guy. He enjoyed meeting people, both new and old, and would talk with anyone. Most importantly, Curt always remained true to himself.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lea; one son, Levi of North Liberty; his siblings, Melody (Dick) Gantenbein of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Tom Braem and Winnie Lou (Dick) Viertel, both of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
