Gavin C. McComas, 45 of Iowa City, ended his life on Thursday April 13, 2006 following a long struggle with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy.

Gavin was born November 6, 1960 to Charles and Janice (Lacina) McComas in Wichita, Kansas. He married Gerry Markovich on September 5, 1999 at their home in Iowa City.

Gavin graduated from City High in 1979 and the University of Iowa in 1985. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed working out, fishing, and playing euchre. He loved his work, where he had the opportunity to travel and work with interesting clients.

Gavin is survived by his wife, Gerry of Iowa City; his son, Zachary of Coralville; his stepdaughter, Carla (James) Apodaca of El Paso, TX; his father, Chuck and his wife Jean of Iowa City; his siblings, Mike (Jennifer) McComas of Minneapolis, MN, Patricia Huss of Iowa City, Kathleen (Donald) Haas of Kansas City, KS, Michael (Nicola) Huss of Minneapolis, MN, Rebecca Huss of Valparaiso, IN, Jennifer (Todd) Jonas of Moscow, Russia, and Muska, Semsa, and Sanela Ibrahimovic all of Iowa City; his Maternal Grandmother, Dorothy Foraker of Iowa City; One granddaughter, Abby and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gavin was preceded in death by his mother.
