F. George Blair, 94, formerly of 225 E. Fairchild, died Sunday, May 21, 2006 at Oaknoll Retirement Residence surrounded by love.

George was born June 30, 1911, the son of Francis and Lottie Cross Blair, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. George came to Iowa during the depression, where he met his wife Wilma Neumann. They were married on August 5, 1942. He served in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and attended San Jose State College.

George represented W.F. Schrafft and Sons, fine chocolates of Boston, MA. He and his family lived in California from 1953 to 1990. For many years they resided in Piedmont, California. In 1990 they moved to Iowa City to be near their daughters.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Oaknoll staff, Iowa City Hospice and all his loving friends.

George is survived by his two daughters, Jean Blair and her husband C. Brian Christianson and Julia Blair, all of Iowa City; a brother John C. Blair and a sister, Jean Watson, both of Calgary, Alberta.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers.
