Clayton K. Goddard, 87, of 3701 2nd Street in Coralville, died peacefully Saturday, May 27, 2006 at his home from complications of emphysema.

Clayton was born December 6, 1918 in Sioux City, the son of Fred & Mabel (Starkey) Goddard. He married Darlene Happe on October 13, 1956 in Jackson, Minnesota.

The couple moved to the Iowa City / Coralville area in 1957. Clayton worked for Hawkeye Wholesale (now Hawkeye Foodsystems) in Coralville until his retirement in 1984.

He served in the United States Army from 1941 – 1946 during World War II. He was a member of the Coralville American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Darlene;
his children,
daughter, Paula Spray of Iowa City
sons, James Goddard (Ruthann) of Enterprise, Alabama
John Goddard (Joni) of Iowa City
Kenn Goddard (Laura) of Iowa City
Fred Goddard (Mary) of Doylestown, Pennsylvania;
seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter

sisters, Ruth Swan (Clair) of ____________, Missouri and Karen Fowser (Robert) of Ames, Iowa;

and many nieces and nephews;

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Morris and a sister Doris.
