Kathryn Mary Greer was born on November 27, 1944 in Sioux City , Iowa . She was the first born child of Joe and Mary Greer. She had two brothers, Mike & Steve, and one sister, Patty/Sarah. She attended kindergarten and the first grade in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended the Tyndall, South Dakota school system from the second grade through high school graduation in 1963. She was a South Dakota state champion in Debate her senior year in high school. After graduating from Tyndall High School, she went to the University of Iowa and received her degree in Teaching from Iowa's College of Education in 1967. While attending Iowa, she helped pay for her education by working at the Regi strar's Office.

Kate married Jerry Pohlman after her graduation in 1967. She taught at the high school in Cortland, New York the first two years of their marriage until she and Jerry were blessed with the arrival of their daughter Molly in 1969. Jerry, Kate, and Molly then welcomed the births of Michael, Matthew and Andrew to their home. Kate was very proud of their four children. She always bragged to her family how smart and cute they were. Kate, Jerry, and their children moved to Buffalo , NY, then Washington , DC , New York City, and Boston before relocating to the Los Angeles area. Kate lived her later years in Iowa City, where she passed away of natural causes on September 7, 2006. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
