Pastor L. Max Weir, 86, of 2242 10th Street in Coralville, was called home by the Lord Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Max was born January 13, 1920 in Vigo County, Indiana, the son of James A. & Lora E. (McClanahan) Weir. Raised in Prairie Creek, Indiana, Max received his bachelor’s degree from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and continued studies at Calvary Bible College in St. Louis.
He served in congregations in Iowa City (United Gospel Church), Stonington, Illinois, Meeker, Colorado, St. Louis, Missouri and Edna, Kansas. Max was united in marriage to Wanda McAllister on November 10, 1944 in Coralville, Iowa.

Retiring and moving to Coralville in 1995, Max continued his nursing home ministry up until this past year. This dedication of ministry was a passion that Max began in 1956.

Survivors include his wife Wanda of Coralville; sons, Roger Weir of Coralville and Philip Weir & his wife Cheryl of Warrenton, Missouri; brother, Alpha Wood & his wife Helen of Cedar Edge, Colorado; grandsons, Brian, Scott & Zachary; sister-in-law, Juanita Siders of North Liberty and several nieces and nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Earl Jr. and a sister Wilna Elbe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Frontier School of the Bible, P.O. Box 217, LaGrange, Wyoming, 82221.
