Rayleen Gillett Frantz, 63, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer with her loving husband by her side.

Rayleen was born on March 6, 1946 in Oroville, CA to Basil Gillett and Alta Gillett Caven. She was raised in Paradise and lived there until she moved to Iowa City, IA in 1979. She worked as a bookkeeper at Creative Management. Rayleen married Jerry Frantz on October 6, 1991 in Iowa City. She was a member of DAR and the Johnson County Republican Women Central Committee.

Rayleen loved animals, camping, and trout fishing with her husband.

Rayleen is survived by her husband Jerry of Iowa City, her mother Alta Gillett Caven of Paradise, CA, a sister Marthan Shepardson (Richard) of Iowa City, two nephews: Mike Shepardson (Annette) of Indianola, IA, Steven Shepardson (Rosemary) of Hood River, OR.

She was preceded in death by her father.

The family would like to thank Dr. Feeley, his staff at Cancer Care, Iowa City Hospice, and the Senior Helpers for all their help and support.
