Walter S. Allen, 85, died Wednesday, December 20th, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville.

Walter was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He was a World War II veteran. Upon returning from the war, he was employed by International Harvester, DoAll and S & C Electric in Chicago. He retired from S & C Electric in 1986 and moved to Iowa City to be near his family.

Walter is survived by his wife, Marion Allen, his step-son James Leaven and his wife Mary Fitzpatrick, and one grandson Alex Leaven all of Iowa City. In addition, he is survived by nine nieces and nephews.
