Ida Porter

Ida was born August 22, 1905 in Reinbeck, Iowa, the daughter of Berend and Minna
Baesecke Lauterbach. On December 25, 1923 she married Walter (Red) A. Porter.

Ida and Red raised their family in Waterloo, where Walter worked as a manager at Rath
Packing. In their early retirement, they split time between travel (to most of the 50 states)
and a home on Lake Okoboji designed by their son Bob, and later lived for many years in the Mesa, Az.. Ida moved to Lake City to be near her daughter Rachel. She was an avid (but realistic) Cubs fan.

Ida is survived by her son, Robert Porter of Champaign; IL; 8 grandchildren, including
Her granddaughter Susan Johnson and Ann Rhomberg and their children Sadie, Lydia
and Emma of Iowa City; and 18 great grandchildren.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband and two children, Rachel Johnson and Junior Porter.
