Francis D. “Bud” Cahill, 75, of rural West Branch died Wednesday, February 21, 2007
at Crestview Care and Rehabilitation Center in West Branch from complications related
to Alzheimer’s Disease.

Bud was born May 25, 1931 at home in rural Cedar County, the son of Francis J. and Kathryn Barry Cahill. He attended schools in rural Cedar County and West Branch. On August 30, 1955 he married Mary Joan Klein at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City.

Bud was a lifelong farmer in the West Branch area. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Tipton and the Tipton Knights of Columbus. For many years Bud served as the
treasurer of the St. Bridget’s Nolan Settlement Cemetery Association.

Bud loved farming and John Deere tractors. He liked to garden, play cards, fish, hunt, travel, and play an occasional round of golf. Bud enjoyed traveling and cooking a meal
for both family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten, by all those who knew him.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Iowa City Hospice and the caregivers
at Solon Care Center and Crestview Care Center for the wonderful care and compassion extended to Bud and them.

Bud is survived by his wife, Mary Joan Cahill; two sons, Bob Cahill of West Branch and Bill (Annette) of Tipton and children LeAnn McCrabb of Sterling, CO., Jon McCrabb of
Arkansas, and Alison Cahill of Tipton; two daughters; Cindy Travagiakis of Cedar Rapids and her children AmberLynn (Ced) Dark of Colorado Springs, CO., Eric (Lindsay) Travagiakis, Amy Travagiakis and Terence Travagiakis, all of Cedar Rapids;daughter, Barb Cahill of Iowa City, Ia,
Two sisters, Jean (Francis) Abel of West Branch and Patricia (Raymond) Abel of Mediapolis; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cahill of Cedar Rapids; three step great grandchildren,
EmmaLee, Elizabeth and Ryan McCrabb; brother and sister-in-laws, Jim (Marilyn) Klein of Wilmington, N.C., Betty (Maynard) Rayner of Lone Tree, Rose (Dave) Stevens of Borden, IN., Jack Klein of Edina, MN., George (Kathy) Klein of Oxford and Tom Klein of Iowa City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John K. “Jack” and sister-in-law
Bernice Cahill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade St., Iowa City, IA 52240 or the Friends of St. Bridget’s.
