Joseph Lyle Donohoe, 57, of Iowa City died peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Mercy Hospice Care, Iowa City surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be at 2 pm, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City with Sr. Agnes Giblin officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7pm Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or Mercy Hospital Foundation for Mercy Hospice Care.

Joe was born March 4, 1952 in Iowa City, the son of Lyle and Dorothy Bergmeier
Donohoe. Joe was a 1970 graduate of City High School and attended the University of Iowa. On July 21, 1979 Joe married Cynthia Byler Spence in Iowa City.

Joe was a data processor at the UIHC pharmacy, were he had been employed for many years. He was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. Joe enjoyed Frisbee golf, cars, motorcycles, and was a music and movie buff.

Joe is survived by his wife, Cyndie and their two daughters, Maria of Iowa City and Cheney of Austin, TX; his mother, Dorothy of Iowa City; two sisters, Becky (Dohoon)
Hyum of South Haven, MI and Bev Hamann of Iowa City; and his Siberian huskie, Kiehla.

He was preceded in death by his father.
