Eileen Marie Elizabeth Pearson Lauer, 83, of Iowa City passed away in the early morning of June 2, 2009 after a heart attack.

Eileen was born May 7, 1926 in Buffalo, NY to John D. and Anna M. (Crapez) Pearson. She was married to Ronald M. Lauer January 12, 1959 in Minneapolis, MN.

Eileen attended High School in Buffalo and received her B.S. in Nursing from D’Youville College in 1948. In 1956 she received her M.A. in Maternal and Child Health from Columbia University. She subsequently served as Head Nurse at Buffalo Children’s
Hospital, Buffalo, NY and as Assistant Director of Pediatric Nursing at the Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, MN.

Eileen was an active school district volunteer for many years and received the Iowa Governors Volunteer Award for her years of service. She was a caring and loving friend, mother, grandmother and wife.

Eileen is survived by her daughter Judy, her son Geoffrey and his wife Erika, her grandchildren, Izaak, Brennan, Eve, Joshua, Avra and Zia, her sister-in-law Leya Ludwig, and Leya’s daughters and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents, and her brother Jack.
