Esther Marie Wilkinson, 94, died Tuesday August 5, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Esther was born on January 15, 1914 in Iowa City to Charles and Phila Herring Brown. She married Joseph Emmett Wilkinson on April 14, 1937 in Annawan, Illinois.

Esther was employed in retail in Iowa City, working at Towner’s Department Store, Seifert’s, and Herteen & Stocker Jewelers until she retired from retail in 1989 at 75 years of age.

She is survived by her two sons; Michael (Barb) and Stephen (Margie), Granddaughter Kelley, grandson Kevin and Great Granddaughter Erica, and many nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by Emmett, her husband, and 10 brothers and 3 sisters.
