Rita Mae McGuire, 75, of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The American Cancer Society. Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City is handling the arrangements.

Rita was born on Decemeber 23, 1933 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Rita (Schulte) Kann. She graduated from Garnavillo High School. On January 15, 1952, Rita married Gerald J. McGuire at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garnavillo.

Rita is survived by her husband Jerry of Guttenberg, IA and their three sons; Rick (Nancy) McGuire of Indianapolis, IN and their children Jacob and Kevin, Ronald (Carol) McGuire of Indianapolis, IN and their children Patrick and Timothy, and Randy (Pamela) McGuire of Cincinnati, OH. She is also survived by her two sisters Karla (Eugene) Preston of Guttenberg, IA and Judith (Ronald) Ashline of Gutenberg, IA. Rita was preceded in death by her parents.
