B.A. Horner, Jr., 81, of Coralville died Sunday morning at Windmill Manor of complications related to Alzheimers Disease.

Family Graveside Services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be directed to the Iowa City Animal Center Foundation, as he loved his pets Beau, Opal, Pearl and Honeymarie. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.

BA was born June 6, 1927 in Waterloo, the son of Brainerd Arnold Horner Sr. and
Mildred Irene Trower. He was a 1945 graduate of East High School in Waterloo and attended the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to World War II BA played the saxophone in dance bands in Waterloo. He eagerly joined the US Navy, and served
aboard the battleship, Wisconsin BB64. He was united in marriage to Leanne Keeling
of Iowa City on April 19, 1980.

BA worked for several Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers in the Des Moines area before coming to Iowa City in 1964 where he was the Lincoln-Mercury dealer until 1979. From
1980 on BA worked in property management for Allan Poots and Associates, and recently for Capitol Savings and Loan Association and the FDIC.

His memberships include the Iowa City Elks Club, the Iowa City Board of Realtors, University Athletic Club, UI Presidents Club and the Battleship Wisconsin Association.

BA loved his country and family above all else. He was a true friend to all. He loved boating, cards, travel, dancing, playing the sax, cooking and always waiting on others.
BA was the host extrordinaire and a loving husband beyond compare. He will be greatly and deeply missed.

Special thanks to the staff at Windmill Manor and Iowa City Hospice for all the love and care they gave to BA and his family. They are truly angels of mercy.

BA is survived by his wife Leanne of Coralville; his son, William Thomas (Karen) Horner of Iowa City and their sons Eric and Ryan; his daughter, Shari Horner and Michael Bibby of Shippsburg, PA and their sons Nicholas and Jonathan; his stepson,
