PNEUMONIA TAKES JAMES J. MURPHY
Last night at nine o'clock James J. Murphy succumbed to an attack of pneumonia which began with influenza a week and a half ago. Thus once more Iowa City loses one of the very flower of its young manhood for he was but thirty-three years of age. He has been prominently identified with the shoe business in the city having until a short time ago been the junior member of the firm of Ford & Murphy. Possessed as he was of a winningly keen and kindly personality he had won for himself numberless friends. He had passed practically his entire life in Iowa City and was a graduate of St. Patricks high school.
He leaves most sadly bereaved his young wife, and two small children: Mary Lucretia aged four and Margaret Loretta who is but six months old. His aunt, Miss Lucretia Grogan, who gave him all the loss in early children of his the loss inn early childhood of his own mother also survives. To them so heavily laden a host of sincere friends extend their sympathy.
The funeral will of necessity be private and will be announced later.
