Julie Flesner, 58

Julie Flesner went home to be with her Lord on May 13, 2009, after succumbing to pancreatic cancer. At her request, she was cremated. A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church, 2707 Dubuque Street NE in North Liberty, on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at 3:00 p.m.

Julie is survived by her husband, John Flesner; her son, Chris (Shelley) Emmons of Ladoga, Indiana; daughter, Andrea Emmons of Chicago, Illinois; step-son, Dane Flesner of Mt. Sterling, Illinois; step-daughter, Hannah (Brant) Mountain of Mt. Sterling, Illinois; her mother, Shirley Grulke of Cedar Rapids; her father, Dale (Ann) Rademaker of Waukon; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lucille and Harry Flesner of Quincy, Illinois; a brother, David (Catherine) Rademaker of Naperville, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Judy (Mike) Driscoll of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Mark (Becky) Flesner of Oskaloosa and James Flesner of St. Louis, Missouri. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Julie was born August 23, 1950, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Shirley and Dale Rademaker. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Washington High School in 1968. She married Larry Emmons in 1974, they later divorced. In 1987, she married John Flesner, they resided at 534 Sicily Court in North Liberty. She worked for the University of Iowa for over twenty years, most recently as Administrative Services Manager, University Book Stores.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, IA, 52240.
