Roy Lee Piere, 48, of 2100 Scott Blvd. Lot 95, Iowa City died Monday, May 04, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City due to heart complications.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, May 8, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund been established in Roy's name. Roy Lee Piere was born September 21, 1960, in Winchester, Kansas the son of Kenneth and Maxine (Ollerich) Piere, Sr. He attended Clear Creek Amana High School. On February 6, 1982 he married Margaret Byers. Roy worked at Spenler Tire for 26 years. He was a member of the Hawkeye Bass Club, Iowa City Bowling Association, was a Cubs fan enjoyed NASCAR and hunting. Roy also enjoyed Iowa football.
His family includes his wife, Margaret; daughter, Keri Evans and husband, Charles Miller; son, Matthew J. Piere; grandchildren, Jacob, Faith and Hope Evans and Alexandra Miller; mother, Maxine Piere; mother-in-law, Anna Byers, all of Iowa City; brothers Ken Piere (Kathy) of North Liberty, Karl Piere (Sara) of Parnell, IA, Randy (Deb) Piere of Cedar Rapids; sisters Rosie (Mike) Graham of Iowa City, Kim Protheroe of Orlando, FL, Betty (Craig) Adams of Grinnell, IA; sister-in-law, Kathryn (John) Petershagen of Houston, Texas; Aunt Pat; ten nieces, seventeen nephews; twenty-eight great nieces and nephews.
Roy was a loving father, husband and grandfather. He cherished all the time he could spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, Sr.; father-in-law, John Byers; and infant sister Robyn Piere.
