Mary Kessel, 89

Mary K. Kessel, 89, formerly of Iowa City, IA passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at an assisted living home in Overland Park, KS after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be at 9:00 am Wednesday morning at St. Patrick's Parish Hall with a funeral mass following at 10:00 am. The family requests no flowers. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Catholic Community Hospice, 9740 West 87th Street, Overland Park, KS 66212. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service of Iowa City is handling the arrangements.

Mary was born on April 20, 1919 and was the daughter of Dan and Mabel Griffin from Holbrook, Iowa. Mary and Bill Kessel were married in 1945. She was widowed in 1988. Mary worked as a cashier at the Johnson County Creamery and retired as an administrative assistant from The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
