RHODA ANN SMITH BURIED SUNDAY AT RIVER JUNCTION

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the River Junction Methodist Church for Mrs. George Smith, life long resident of this community. Mrs. Smith died Friday after many months illness.

The Rev. Florence Jardine of the Lone Tree Methodist church officiated at the funeral service. Mrs. Harry Baker sang "Shall We Gather At The River" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus", accompanied by Mrs. Earl Rife at the piano.

Pallbearers were Arthur Huffman, Harley Fountain, Leo Fountain, Alonzo Fountain, Stanley Fountain, and Fay Musser.

Mrs. Jasper Solomon, Delores Fountain, Gladys Fountain, Juanita Fountain and Mrs. Arthur Huffman were in charge of the flowers.

Mrs. Smith was laid at rest in the River Junction cemetery.

Rhoda Anna Smith was born in Johnson County, Iowa, September 16, 1871 and died August 16, 1947. She had lived in this county all of her life.

She was the daughter of Sarah Jane and William Fountain, early settlers in this county.

In 1896 she was married to George Smith and to them were born six children, five sons and one daughter. Two sons, Samuel and Jesse, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, George Smith; three sons, Riley of Emmetsburg, Wilfred and John of Lone Tree; and a daughter, Rozella Mae Osborne of Iowa City; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Stella Murphy, of
Los Angeles, California.
