LaVera Muller, 82

LaVera M. (Duffey) Muller, 82, of Iowa City, died Thursday April 9, 2009 at Atrium Village in Hills following a lengthy illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday April 14th, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Iowa City. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, with a Parish Vigil Service starting at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Iowa City Hospice or Atrium Village.

LaVera was born on April 4, 1927 in Williamsburg, IA to Peter and Theresa (Driscoll) Duffey. She married Leroy Muller on November 23, 1948 in Lone Tree, IA. LaVera was a school teacher in Riverside, Lone Tree and Hills for many years. In 1973 LaVera and her husband started Muller Plumbing & Heating.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary, life member of VFW 6414 in Riverside and the American Legion in Iowa City.

LaVera is survived by her husband Leroy, four children: Dianne (Richard) Nelson, Joseph (Laura) Muller, Julie (Bud) Maas, Donald (Cathy) Muller, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, siblings: Daniel (Margie) Duffey, Paul (Jean) Duffey, Theresa (Laverne) Samuelson, Ann (Glen) Pauley and a sister-in-law Pat Duffy.

She was preceded in death by her son Jim Muller, parents and six siblings: Regis, Harold, Richard, Eugene, Mary Agnes Schneider and Peter.
