Services:A Funeral Service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty. In lieu of flowers, the James D. Tallman Memorial Fund has been established.
Visitation:Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Lensing's Oak Hill in Coralville.
James D. “Jim” Tallman, 74, of 3718 Pine Ridge NE, North Liberty, died Tuesday, January 27, 2008 at his home following an extended illness.

Jim was born January 19, 1935 in Cascade, Iowa, the son of Frank L. and M. Augustine (Collins) Tallman. He was raised in Cascade and Marion, where he was a graduate of Marion High School. Jim married Nadine Manson October 17, 1953 in Marion, Iowa. In 1966 they moved to North Liberty.

Jim was a supervisor for Mid-Continent Bottler’s in Cedar Rapids for twenty years, and was later employed with the Iowa Lottery as a district sales representative, retiring in 1998.

Jim was a volunteer with the North Liberty Fire Department for over twenty five years. He was a former North Liberty City Councilman and currently served as a Penn Township Trustee. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and his talents are displayed in the many hand made items throughout family members homes. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. He was always available to help with any projects or home repairs. His support and love for his family will be missed.

Survivors include his two children, Jeanne (Dean) Yordi of Norwalk, Iowa and Dennis (Sarah) Tallman of North Liberty; his sister, Caroline (Patrick) Shirley of Fennimore, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jami (John) Tandy, Nicholas (Krystin) Tallman, Travis (Lindsey) Yordi, Daniel Tallman, Allen Yordi and Angie Newberry; and seven great grandchildren Jordan, Jaden and Justice Yordi, Ashley, Alexis, and Sam Newberry and his best buddy, Jackson Rios.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nadine, a brother Richard and an infant daughter.
