THOMAS METCALF DIED THIS MORNING

Thomas Metcalf passed away this morning, about 11 o'clock, at the New West Hotel, the hostelry he has been ably conducting, during the closing years of his life.

The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon, at 2'oclock, from his late home. Rec. C.C. Rowlison will officiate, under the auspices of the Elks, of which organization, Mr. Metcalf was a popular and highly esteemed member.

He was 72 years of age on March 10, and passed away many years of his life here, as a farmer and business man, in Iowa City and near the city.

Surviving are his son, Mason J., of Fort Dodge, and daughter, Addie of Iowa City, both of whom were at his side when the end came, and a brother J.B. Metcalf, of Dumont, Iowa who is also here.

Mr. Metcalf stood deservedly high in this community, and will be missed by a host of grieving friends.
