Norma N. Fell, 74, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a long illness.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Services will be Saturday at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Kittle officiating.
The family will host a reception immediately following the service at Faith United Church of Christ, 1609 DeForest Avenue in Iowa City. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
A memorial fund will be established in Norma’s name.Norma was born January 13, 1934 in Martelle, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Pearl (Brady) Weaver. Growing up in Tipton, Iowa, Norma graduated from Tipton High School. Moving to Iowa City in 1965, Norma was a self-employed cake decorator.
She was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Iowa City, Tipton Women of the Moose and the Sewing Club. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, was a volunteer Teacher’s Aide at Grant Wood Elementary School in Iowa City and was a school board volunteer. She also found the time to be a Den Mother for her sons’ Cub Scout troop. Norma spent countless hours with her grandsons and loved having them at her home after school to play cards and work on craft projects.
Norma married John A. “Scoop” Fell on May 21, 1955 in Anamosa, Iowa.
Survivors include her son, Rob “Robbie” Fell and his wife Julie of Iowa City, two grandsons, Jonathan Fell and Ryan Fell; sisters, Arnola “Nonie” Dewell and her husband Larry of Lowden, Iowa, Darlys Sayles and her husband Everett of LeClaire, Iowa; brothers, Arnold “Arnie” Weaver and his wife Patti of St. Joseph, Michigan, a sister in law, Donalee Weaver of Tipton and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Harold and mother Pearl, her husband John in 1981, a daughter, Debbie Lou, a son Devin and a brother Verlon Weaver.
