Gordon L. Harker, 73, of Amana, formerly of Oxford, died Friday, October 31, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Oxford, with burial at Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5pm Sunday at the church. Memorial donations may be made in Gordon's memory to Oxford First Responders. Gordon Lee Harker was born July 9, 1935, in Iowa City the son of Virgil and Oleta "Lettie" (Ingwersen) Harker. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1953 and served in the Army from the late 1950's to early 1960's. Gordon worked at Amana Refrigeration for many years before retiring in 1995. Gordon was a lifetime resident of Oxford until he moved to Amana in 2004. He enjoyed camping, boating, playing the accordion and organ.

His family includes his sister, Lois Harker of Davenport, IA; brother, Dale Harker of Oxford, IA; nieces and nephews, Barbara Harker-Palmer and her husband Tim Palmer of Oxford, Randy Harker and his wife, Teresa of Oxford, and Laurie Harker of Minneapolis, MN; and a great-nephew, Creed Harker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister in infancy, and sister-in-law Dede Harker
