Mrs. Mabel Vilmer, Former Iowa Citian, Dies in Des Moines

Mrs. Mabel Vilmer, 49, a former Iowa Citian, died suddenly at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage.

She was born October 3, 1903, at Lone Tree, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Crain.

On October 5, 1925, she was married to Edward Baldwin, one-time Iowa City lawyer and Johnson County Attorney. He preceded her in death July 27, 1941.

Her marriage to Loren Vilmer took place May 15, 1948, and the couple has since made their home in Des Moines.

Mrs. Vilmer was a member of the Women of the Moose.

Surviving are the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Herbert Vincent, of Iowa City and Mrs. Tom Dunnington, of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Crain of Los Angeles, Calif., and Fred Crain of Iowa City, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Grace Burroughs and Miss Blanche Crain, both of Washington State.

The funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church here, and burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Friends may call at the McGovern funeral home, until 1 p.m. Tuesday.
